Canada Games Qualifying, PEI

In order to qualify for the Canada Games and represent PEI athletes must meet the following criteria:

  • Under the age of 19 as August 1, 2017
  • Date of Birth: Born on August 2, 1998 or later.
  • Players must be permanent residents of Prince Edward Island
  • Players must be members in good standing with the PEIGA
  • Players must be amateur golfers (refer to Golf Canada Rules of Amateur Status)



    • The three (3) players with the highest point total at the end of the six (6) events will become members of Team PEI for the 2017 Canada Summer Games.
    • The six (6) events where the points are added together for the highest point total are:
        • CJGA at Eagles Glenn (3 rounds) – May 20th, 21st & 22nd
        • ADL Junior Tour Event #1 (2 Round) – May 27th & May 28th
        • ADL Junior Tour Event #2 (2 Round) – June 10th & 11th
        • East Coast Junior – Bouchtocue (2 rounds) – June 27th & 28th
        • ADL PEI Junior Championship (2 rounds) – July 7th & 8th
        • Future Links Atlantic’s (3 rounds) – July 17th, 18th, 19th & 20th


If there is a tie at the end of the five (6) qualifying events, it will be broken by a playoff

Inability to compete in a Qualifying event

The PEIGA Junior Committee reserves the right to consider the inclusion of a player on the PEI Canada Games team due to an inability to compete in one of the two qualifying events during the 2017 season.  The inability to compete will only be given consideration for the following two reasons:

  • Documented illness or injury with appropriate physician’s report
  • Valid family emergency as approved by the Junior Committee

Players are also required to meet minimum training requirements to be part of Team PEI for the Games.  These training requirements are:

  1. Any fitness testing sessions that are scheduled
  2. Mental training workshops throughout the off season
  3. Scheduled nutrition workshops
  4. A winter testing session (date TBA)
  5. The outdoor spring Training Camp in early May (weather permitting)
