Entry fee is $235 which includes practice balls 30 minutes before tee off
Golf cars are permitted but must be booked directly by the player ( $15 per seat per round )
Dundarave will offer a reduced price for practice rounds after you are entered
Two sets of tees will be used . Men – 6300 yds. Women- 5500 yds. ( Approximately )
Handicap divisions will be set depending on the number of entries
Gross and net prizes in each Division
Pace of play will be strictly enforced and a dress code is in effect.
20 players will be selected by age category to represent P.E.I. at the Atlantic Golf Championship

P.E.I. Amateur Championship
Registration is now open for the 2016 P.E.I. Amateur Golf Championship that will be held at Dundarave, July 15-17. The entry for the 3 round tournament is $235 and you can sign up through our new on-line payment system. 20 players will qualify to play in the Atlantic Golf Championship through the Amateur. No entries will be accepted after the July 7th deadline.
Golf Canada/PEIGA Membership Cards
If you haven’t done so already pick up your 2016 membership card at your local course or on-line on the Golf Canada website. In addition to your Official Handicap the new Gold card comes with a ton of neat benefits for golfers. You must have a card to play in P.E.I.G.A. tournaments.
Atlantic Junior Golf Championship
Countryview is hosting the 2016 Atlantic Junior Golf Championship July 12-14th and they are in need of volunteers. This is a great opportunity to see some of the best junior golfers in Canada. If you can help please give Kris or Karen Currie a call at the course. You will not regret it.

P.E.I. Golf Association Welcomes New Corporate Partners
The Prince Edward Island Golf Association announced today that Experience Hyundai of Charlottetown and Excel Accounting of Stratford have signed on as sponsors of its senior golf program. Experience Hyundai becomes title sponsor for the senior men while Excel Accounting Services assumes the same role with the senior women.
Commencing this summer the men’s tour will be called the “Experience Hyundai Senior Men’s Tour” and the women’s tour will be named the “Excel Accounting Services Senior Women’s Tour “.
Experience Hyundai Manager, Darren Noonan said that his company was pleased to support senior golf in the province.
” Golf is a wonderful way for seniors to stay active and socially engaged. My family has always enjoyed golf and I am happy that Experience Hyundai can be associated with this great community program ” said Noonan.
Excel Accounting Services President Sherry White expressed similar thoughts.
” I have always been a competitive golfer and golf has long been an important part of my life. Over the past few years the senior women’s program has been growing steadily and my company is pleased to be involved ” said White.
P.E.I. Golf President, Brenda McILwaine said that the Association was very excited about its new partnerships with Experience Hyundai and Excel Accounting Services.
” Keeping senior’s playing golf is a high priority of the Association and these partnerships with two great Island companies will significantly enhance the quality of our men’s and women’s senior tours. I know that our players are very appreciative of this support ” said McILwaine.
The Experience Hyundai Senior Men’s Tour has 12 tournaments scheduled at courses throughout P.E.I. this year while the women will be playing in 6 events on the Excel Accounting Services Senior Women’s Tour. Senior Golf Tour Swings Into Action
The 2016 edition of the King of Clubs Senior Men’s GolfTour kicks off May 23rd at the Countryview Golf Course .
The tour provides an opportunity for men over 55 years of age to participate in friendly competition on a weekly basis. The tour includes 6 spring and 6 fall tournaments. The senior men play a different course each week for prizes and points towards provincial teams.
” The King of Clubs Tour is a great way for senior men to get together for fun and competition . Players look forward to the schedule and for a chance to reconnect with their golf buddies ” said P.E.I. Golf Association Executive Director Ron MacNeill.
The 2016 version of the tour will include a Super Senior Division for players over 70 years of age .
” Handicap or skill level is not an issue and everyone is welcome. It’s a great way to play a lot of the Island’s wonderful courses at prefered rates” said MacNeill.
The cost of playing the spring leg of the tour is $35 which goes exclusively towards weekly prizes. Players can pick and choose which tournaments thay want to play there is no minimum . P.E.I. Golf Association Plans Busy YearÂ
The Prince Edward Island Golf Association is getting ready for a busy golf season with a lot of changes in store for Island golfers.
” The Association is introducing a number of initiatives this year including a new membership program and changes to the P.E.I. Amateur Championship ” said P.E.I.G.A. Executive Director Ron MacNeill.
This year a new Gold Membership Card replaces the former handicap card . This new Golf Canada / P.E.I.G.A. joint membership card provides significant benefits for golfers including , insurance for lost golf equipment , a golf club identification system, weekly prizes for submitting scores , a subsription to Golf Canada magazine as well as an official handicap that is recognized world wide . The new Gold Card can be purchased at local coureses or on the Golf Canada website .
” Following last year’s Amateur Championship the Association formed a Competition Committee comprised of local golfers to review the P.E.I. Amateur. This Committee, chaired by Sherry White, made a number of recommendations and as result the tournament will see significant changes this year ” said MacNeill.
The Amateur will move from 36 to 54 holes for all players and will be organized on the basis of handicaps . Players will compete for Men’s , Women’s and Senior championship titles. The 2016 P.E.I. Amateur Golf Championship will be held at Dundarave July 15-17th .
In August the P.E.I. Golf Association will host the 2016 Atlantic Golf Championship at Fox Meadow in Stratford. The Atlantic Golf Championship brings together the best men, women and senior golfers in the region to play for both team and individual trophies. Winners of respective divisions earn exemptions into 2017 National Championships. The 20 players that will represent P.E.I. at the Atlantic Golf Championship will be selected in July through the P.E.I. Amateur tournament.
In June the new ADL Junior Tour kicks off under the direction of the Association’s new Junior Golf Coach , Sean Joyce . The tour provides summer long competition for junior golfers . As well Future Links clinics will be held for juniors of all ages throughout the summer at courses across the province . These clinics are a great way for boys and girls to be introduced to golf . In July Countryview on the south shore will host the C.N. Atlantic Junior Golf Championship which will bring together the best junior golfers in the eastern Canada.
The Association’s Senior Tour’s for men over 55 and women over 50 years of age kick off in May.
” The popularity of these tours is growing with more golfers signing up each year. It’s a great way to keep golfers in the game and our senior’s really enjoy the friendly competition” said MacNeill.
On April 26th the Association is offering a workshop for golfers who might be interested in becoming rules officials or learning how to rate golf courses. This session will be held at Sport P.E.I. at 7:00 pm .

” It looks like we are going to have a longer golf season than last year which will be much appreciated by local golfers . The P.E.I. Golf Association has a busy schedule and there are lots of exciting things happening ” said MacNeill.

2016 Atlantic Golf Championship Set for Prince Edward Island
The 2016 Atlantic Golf Championship will make its first visit to Prince Edward Island this summer. Fox Meadow Golf Course in Stratford will host the regional tournament from August 18-21.
This is the third year of the Championship which brings together some of the best amateur golfers in Atlantic Canada. The tournament was created by the respective Golf Associations of the four Atlantic Provinces. The goal was to create a first class competitive experience for the regions best men, women and senior golfers who will compete over 54 holes for both individual and team titles.
In the lead up to the tournament each provincial golf association will conduct qualifying tournaments to select the 20 players who will represent their Province at Fox Meadow . In 2015 Prince Edward Island won the team portion of the Championships which was held at the Twin Rivers course at the Terra Nova Resort and Golf Community in Port Blanford, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Ranked as one of the Best Places to Play with a 4 star rating by Golf Digest, Fox Meadow will present a great test for these skilled amateurs . Only a few minutes from downtown Charlottetown the course offers a natural setting and a spectacular view of the city harbour . The clubhouse and other facilities at Fox Meadow are outstanding ensuring that players will have both a competitive and a memorable experience .

Dundarave To Host 2016 Amateur Golf Championship
The Prince Edward Island Golf Association has awarded the 2016 P.E.I. Amateur Golf Championship to the Dundarave golf course in eastern P.E.I.. The tournament will be held July 15th to 17th .
2016 marks the return of the Championship to a three round tournament with handicap divisions for both men and women . This year the tournament also moves to new later dates.
“The Association has made a committment to establish the Amateur as the premier golf tournament in the province. It has a long and proud tradition” said P.E.I.G.A. President Jim McQuaid.
“The Amateur not only identifies the provinces’ best men and women golfers it is also the qualifying tournament for the selection of 20 players to represent P.E.I. at the Atlantic Golf Championship in August so there is a lot at stake” said McQuaid.
The Association also announced that the 2017 Island Amateur Championship has been awarded to Stanhope . Future venues will be determined later this fall after golfer response to the new tournament format and dates have been evaluated.
Following last years Amateur the Association consulted with golfers on changes that they would like to see for the tournament . By way of a survey they indicated that they would like to see the status of the tournament enhaced and returned to three rounds. A Committee chaired by noted Island amateur golfer Sherry White oversaw the review of the championship .
“We are looking forward to a great tournament with a full field on a championship quality golf course” said McQuaid.
