Luke Allen Memorial
Junior Golf Fund
If it was golf season and the weather was good, there was always a club in his hands. There were many days he went on the course, even on days when he shouldn’t have, because he loved the game so much! His passion, determination to excel and his commitment to the game was evident in every swing and putt!
In 2012, Luke Stanley Allen received the award for Junior Golfer of the Year in Prince Edward Island. Being a member of the PEIGA Junior Golf Program prepared him for the biggest golfing highlights of his life!
Luke became a member of the Holland College Hurricanes golf team from 2012 through 2015. He and his teammates won consecutive Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) championships and in 2014, they made history, being the first Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Gold Medalists in Hurricanes history!
Then in 2015, on the 18th hole at Belvedere Golf & Country Club, with my father as his caddie, he did exactly what “Pop” said – “Lay it up Lukie!” That day, Luke won the Island Open with a one stroke lead on the last hole! Luke also represented PEI at the Canadian Junior Championship in 2015.
Luke continued to share his love for the game when he became a Junior Golf Program Instructor; participants looked up to him and he left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He instructed junior golfers at Countryview Golf Club and Andersons Creek Golf Club in PEI and at Glen Arbor Golf Course in Nova Scotia.
In memory of Luke and the game he lived for, our family would like to sponsor the registration fees for the Junior Golfers selected to represent PEI at the 2024 Canadian Junior Championships and the U15 National Championship!
This memorial fund was made possible through the dedicated golfers, volunteers and the host course supporting the 3rd Annual Luke Allen Memorial Golf Tournament. Special thanks to Chance MacIntyre, Jamie MacIntyre and Justin Shanks for promoting and organizing such a great event.
